Technology, Governance, and Arts
Hi, I'm (Sergio) Gordo. I consider myself a constantly curious mind navigating a world where much of today's magic happens between arts and technology. I'm a former architect who learned programming to build complex 3D-printing patterns, and then dived deep into the Internet and its depths, and could not get out of it. My last big project was SONGS, a sovereign protocol for artists to own their royalties and earn their share transparently, and I'm experimenting with locally run AI models.
Product & systems
I've spent years leading in product design, not only shaping what ships, but the frontend architectures and systems engineering that hold a product together. I've always been fascinated with the impact of technology on society and how it can be used to empower people and communities, self-learning, and to develop strong connections. The internet is a crazy interesting place, we need to preserve its sovereignty and community values.
Decentralized structures
I've also spent a lot of time designing and collaborating on decentralised protocols around governance, voting, identity, RWA tokenization, and arts.
Since around 2018 I've focused on that lane, how these systems can help us become more sovereign as individuals and how they can help us build stronger, more tenacious local and global communities. The complicated dilemma with this technology is that it enables at the same time a hyperbolic anarcho-capitalist global model and sets values for foundational decentralized and programmatic distributed systems that could be foundational to fairer systems. After years of experimenting, those systems' incentives still need to find the right path to the masses.
Arts & dance
Parallel to all of that, I work close to the arts and dance: scenography for movement and club spaces, DJing, and pushing underground culture forward, often between Madrid and Portugal, sometimes other spots, where I collaborate with artists and venues around space, light, and long-form listening.
This site is my digital garden: Somehow I've been crafting this site's UI & UX for years and I'm now adding notes, writings, projects, experiments, and more. Trying to get into a method of sharing more of my thinking in public via this site, instead of on social networks. I think social networks nowadays need to be dissected and curated to become true knowledge or inspiration.
